Shri Jagannath Sanskrit Vishvavidyalaya was established on July 7, 1981, under the vision of Chief Minister Prajnana Vachaspati Sj. Janaki Ballabh Pattanayak. As the third Sanskrit University in India, it holds a prestigious position in Sanskrit education. The university maintains a NAAC-accredited status and operates 142 Sanskrit institutions, including 5 Mahavidyalayas and 137 Vidyalayas. The sprawling campus, situated between reserve forest and sea shore, offers students a peaceful learning environment.

The university boasts significant achievements through its Centre of Advanced Research in Sanskrit (CARS). Notable accomplishments include publishing thirteen volumes of “Jagannath Jyoti” research journals and 33 scholarly books. UG Eligibility: Students seeking admission must have completed their intermediate (10+2) with Sanskrit as one of the subjects. A minimum of 50% marks in aggregate is required from recognized boards. Traditional Pathshala certificates like Prathama and Madhyama are also considered for specific courses.

PG Eligibility: Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in Sanskrit or related subjects with a minimum of 55% marks. Graduates from recognized universities with Sanskrit as a major subject are eligible for MA programs.
